*see UPDATE below* Based on various airlines such as Lufthansa and their partners or Delta and KLM / Air France you may consider an attractive solution to countries of Central America when departing from Italy, Spain or Amsterdam. To book the cheapest flights you may decide to fly to Guatemala, Costa Rica or Panama or even book an open-jaw flights and visit both countries during your trip. For a bit higher fare you may also consider to visit other countries such as Belize or Honduras (including Roatan!). Tthe cheapest return flights are starting already at €348!
If you can accept not a perfect transit time you may explore different US cities during your trip to Central America. To book the cheapest flights available please look for flights between November and beginning of December 2015 and January to March 2016. This promotional offer with Lufthansa is valid for bookings made till 25th of August 2015 or until sold out. Flights are operated via Frankfurt and in some cases via US cities. (do not forget to get your ESTA certificate in such a case). Depends on the destination you choose there may be long layover on your way in US you would have to accept and giving you great solution to visit another place on your way to Central America.
